Recently, reporters learned from the Anhui Academy of Agricultural Sciences that in 2024, the provincial vegetable industry technology system cultivated 37 new vegetable varieties and demonstrated and promoted 102 high-quality, anti-adversity varieties throughout the year. They integrated and applied 24 green and efficient technology models, expanding standardized planting areas to 1.8 million mu, which helped the province's vegetable output exceed 27 million tons with a value surpassing 170 billion yuan.

In 2024, the provincial vegetable industry technology system focused on "technological strengthening of supply chains," cultivating a batch of high-quality new vegetable varieties. 13 new technologies and models have been developed, created 4 new products and formulations, established 6 local standards, and obtained 26 authorized invention patents and 9 software copyrights. Innovative breakthroughs have been made in areas such as efficient breeding techniques for non-heading cabbage, innovation in germplasm resources and breeding of facility-grown peppers, and the breeding and application of high-quality, multi-resistant small and medium-sized watermelon varieties. This resulted in winning one second and one third prize for the Anhui Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, one special and one third prize for the Anhui Agricultural Science and Technology Promotion Award, and a second prize for the China Federation of Commerce Science and Technology Award, providing solid technical support for the stable production and supply of "Anhui Vegetables."

Chief expert of the provincial vegetable industry technology system, Yan Congsheng, told reporters that with the joint efforts of numerous researchers, the popularization rate of new vegetable varieties and technologies in the province reached over 95%, with all service entities achieving branded sales, increasing efficiency by 25% and driving surrounding farmers to increase their income and wealth.
