BEIJING, May 7 (Xinhua) -- The Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) has established over 1,000 specialized teams with approximately 100,000 personnel for emergency rescue duties, according to a press conference on Wednesday. These teams operate across eight fields, spanning disaster relief, medical aid, water supply management, public health services, emergency transport, psychological support, search and rescue, and aquatic rescue operations. The RCSC activated emergency response measures 565 times and deployed 775,000 relief items in 2024, said Wang Bin, deputy president of the organization. The RCSC is further committed to leveraging its grassroots networks and volunteers, integrating technological solutions to enhance rescue capacities, and collaborating with emergency response agencies to deliver rapid humanitarian assistance to disaster-stricken communities. In addition, Chinese Red Cross Foundation President Bei Xiaochao highlighted the foundation's closed-loop system, which covers everything from fundraising and resource allocation to compliance monitoring. Bei said that the foundation maintains real-time updates on relief operations and the distribution of materials in compliance with regulations, ensures the public disclosure of donation receipts and expenditures, and publishes audit reports for transparency.■
