Anhui Province is committed to deeply exploring the essence, core values, and contemporary significance of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), upholding both inheritance and innovation. It strives to establish a well-known brand for TCM culture and promote the rapid development of the TCM industry.

Lu'an, as one of the main producing areas of medicinal materials in Anhui Province, has seven varieties of characteristic authentic medicinal materials such as Huoshan Dendrobium and Ganoderma lucidum among the "Top Ten Anhui Medicines." In recent years, relying on its resource advantages, Lu'an has scientifically planned and advanced the specialization, standardization, and large-scale industrial development of the TCM industry. As of the end of November, the city had a total planting area of 234,100 mu of medicinal materials, with an output of 217,800 tons and a comprehensive industrial chain output value of 15.7 billion yuan.

A comprehensive implementation plan for the revitalization and development of the medicinal material industry has been rolled out, aiming to expand the planting scale of medicinal materials. Efforts are being made from multiple aspects including the protection of germplasm resources, standardized processing and production of medicinal materials, and brand building.

Currently, Bozhou City has essentially established a complete industrial chain system encompassing tissue culture breeding of seeds and seedlings, cultivation, processing, scientific research, and more. It has attracted 73 well-known national and top 100 pharmaceutical enterprises, with 212 pharmaceutical enterprises above designated size currently operating. Over 1,300 varieties of traditional Chinese medicine formula granules have been listed for record. In 2023, Bozhou City was approved as a national demonstration pilot for the inheritance and innovative development of traditional Chinese medicine, becoming one of the 15 pilot cities nationwide.

The traditional Chinese medicine industry in Bozhou has been inherited and developed over a millennium, revitalizing with new vitality. From January to October this year, the scale of the modern traditional Chinese medicine industry in the city reached 186.48 billion yuan, marking a growth of 7.6%.
