A New 'Scenery' of Transportation in Great Yellow Mountain

Since the beginning of this year, Anhui has focused on advancing the construction of transportation infrastructure in the Great Yellow Mountain area, accelerating the establishment of a convenient and efficient "fast access" transportation network. This effort aims to enhance the level of transportation services and tourism experiences in the Great Yellow Mountain area, injecting strong momentum into the local economic and social development.

The Xuancheng-Jingxian Expressway is an important part of the "ninth horizontal" section of Anhui Province's "five vertical and ten horizontal" expressway network. The project is constructed in two phases. The first phase spans 40 kilometers with a budgeted investment of 4.46 billion yuan, passing through several tourist attractions such as Moon Bay, Peach Blossom Pool, and Zhaji Ancient Town. Upon completion, the project will not only achieve "one-hour accessibility" within Xuancheng's cities and counties but also open up a new expressway corridor towards Jiangxi and Guangdong. Moreover, it will enable residents along the route to benefit from the tourism industry. Local resident Hu Lingling, who opened her homestay five years ago relying on the unique tourism resources of Moon Bay, is genuinely happy about the upcoming opening of the Xuancheng-Jingxian Expressway.

Including the Xuancheng-Jingxian Expressway, there are currently 44 ongoing expressway projects in the province, with 14 of them located in the Great Yellow Mountain area, accounting for 32%. Among these, two projects involving the expansion and renovation from Guangde to Xuancheng are scheduled to be completed within the year, while the Qimen to the Anhui-Jiangxi border section of the Dezhou to Shanghai Expressway aims to finish next year. The Ningguo to Zongyang Expressway’s Chizhou section is expected to start construction within the year. Additionally, the reconstruction projects of national and provincial highways are also advancing rapidly. During this period, at the reconstruction site of the Qingyang to Hongshi Road in Chizhou City, builders are seizing the favorable weather to lay asphalt at a rate of 1 kilometer per day, aiming to complete the main body of the road within the year. This 78.6-kilometer-long provincial road connects important scenic spots such as Jiuhua Mountain, Jiuziyan, and Qiupu River. It serves as a crucial tourist corridor in the southern mountainous region of Chizhou City.

Not only is Anhui focusing on the construction of transportation infrastructure, but it is also making significant efforts in enhancing tourism transportation services. The Great Yellow Mountain area will establish a "Super Charging Corridor," aiming to build a modern and high-quality charging and battery swap service system by 2027. This system will include no fewer than 30,000 public charging piles and 110 battery swap stations, ensuring that every county has access to a battery swap station. Additionally, the functional facilities of service areas will be upgraded, and the quality of toll station services will be improved, supporting the development of Great Yellow Mountain as a world-class leisure, vacation, and wellness tourism destination. In the first three quarters of this year, the four cities in the Great Yellow Mountain area have collectively completed a fixed asset investment in transportation of 21.33 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 50.1%.
