BEIJING, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday congratulated Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi on his reelection as Egyptian president.

In his congratulatory message, Xi noted that China and Egypt are good friends who share the same ideal and trust each other, and good partners who work together for development and common prosperity.

In recent years, Xi said, China-Egypt relations have flourished, practical cooperation in various fields has brought fruitful outcomes, and the friendship between their people has been deepening continuously.

Xi said that he attaches great importance to the development of China-Egypt relations, and stands ready to work with Sisi to continue to firmly support each other, promote China-Egypt Belt and Road cooperation, jointly safeguard the common interests of developing countries, and continuously lift the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership to higher levels so as to bring more benefits to their people.
